Hans-Ulrich Rieker (February 1, 1920 - October 26, 1979 ) was a German theater author and head of the Arya Maitreya Mandala for Europe order. As a Buddhist mendicant he then wandered on foot through India , where he in 1951 Lama Anagarika Govinda met, who became his authoritative teacher. His books on Buddhism, Yoga, and Meditation contributed significantly to the growing interest in these topics in the 1950s and 1960s. [4] Rieker's literary achievements in conveying the authentic tradition of classical yoga were also recognized in India by BKS Iyenga.
